Hadoop, a Big Data management and analytics platform, is all the rage, yet opinions about Hadoop market adoption differ wildly – from all doom and gloom to overly optimistic. A recent Hadoop market study says that the reports of Hadoop’s demise are greatly exaggerated and that despite obvious setbacks Hadoop is here to stay and grow, with the rapid growth period is still a few years ahead. Below is one of market surveys used in gathering data for this report. Interestingly it reflects how divided are opinions of respondents – 35% of respondents have no plans to adopt Hadoop, 17% of respondents never heard of Hadoop; yet 37% of respondents target Hadoop to make the most of their data, 31% to speed up processing, 26% to lower costs and 11% making money out of it.
Note: Multiple responses allowed. The percentages may add up to more than 100%; they show the percentage of all respondents who chose each option.
